Is the Fagradalsfjall Volcano Active Today?

The Fagradalsfjall volcanic area is part of an active geological zone on the Reykjanes Peninsula and continues to be monitored closely by Icelandic authorities. Conditions can change, which is why all access and hiking routes depend on official safety guidance.

Our local guides follow daily updates and adjust the route based on current volcanic activity, gas monitoring, weather, and trail access. When lava is visible and safe, we take you as close as conditions allow. When it is not, you still explore Iceland’s newest lava fields, craters, and dramatic volcanic landscapes.
