Full description
Discover more than just a hike — explore Iceland’s volcanic heart with a small group tour beyond the standard Fagradalsfjall experience.
Start your journey in Reykjavík with pickup from Bus Stop #3 Lækjargata. From there, we travel to the dramatic lava fields in Grindavík — a town fully evacuated during recent eruptions. Learn about the impact of the volcanic activity on local life before reaching Fagradalsfjall, where your expert local guide leads a hike through raw lava terrain to breathtaking crater viewpoints.
After the volcano, we continue the adventure across the Reykjanes Peninsula, with scenic stops at the *Seltún geothermal area, famous for its boiling mud pools and sulfur vents, and at the tranquil *Kleifarvatn Lake, surrounded by steep volcanic cliffs.

This tour is perfect for geology lovers, photographers, families, and anyone curious to walk on Iceland’s newest land with someone who actually lived through the eruptions.
All images shown are from real tours. Some show glowing lava. Others don’t. Why? Because eruptions are unpredictable and can pause at any time. When eruptions happen and access is safe, we adjust the route to include the best viewing point. When there’s no visible activity, we focus on the most dramatic lava fields and scenic craters.
*Red lava is never guaranteed. But every tour is unique.
Please read all details before booking to avoid misunderstandings.
